SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. Achieving SDGs 9 lays the foundation for equitable economic growth through:
1. Resilient Infrastructure: Building reliable, sustainable, and high-quality infrastructure to support human well-being and economic development.
2. Inclusive Industrialization: Significantly increasing the share of industry in employment and GDP, and expanding access to financial services for small-scale industries.
3. Innovation & Research: Strengthening scientific research, enhancing the technological capabilities of the industrial sector, and increasing access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Efforts to Accelerate Implementation in Indonesia, by the end of 2025, Indonesia had achieved 62.5% of its total SDGs target, placing it among the most progressive countries in the upper-middle-income category. For SDGs 9, acceleration is focused on:
1. Strategic Industrial Downstreaming: The government has prioritized the downstreaming of leading commodities (such as nickel and copper) by 2026 to increase domestic value-added and strengthen global supply chains.
2. Green Industrial Transformation: Encouraging factories to shift to low-emission and resource-efficient production processes to achieve the net-zero emissions target.
3. Infrastructure Digitalization & New SNI: Implementing the latest national standards (SNI) by 2026, which focus on digital standardization to support industrial efficiency and smart infrastructure connectivity.
4. Development Financing Innovation: Developing innovative financing channels, including public-private partnerships and faith-based finance, to bridge the cost gap for sustainable infrastructure development.
5. Strengthening Digital Research and Ecosystems: Expanding the reach of ICT networks (such as 5G and fiber optics) to remote areas to ensure that digital innovation can be enjoyed equitably by MSMEs across the region.
