SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Given that more than half of the world's population lives in cities, the main focuses of SDGs 11 include:
1. Adequate Housing: Ensure access for all to adequate, safe, and affordable housing and basic services, and improve the quality of slum areas.
2. Public Transport: Provide access to safe, affordable, and sustainable transport systems, especially for those in vulnerable situations.
3. Green Space: Provide universal access to safe and inclusive public and green spaces.
4. Cultural & Natural Heritage Conservation: Strengthen efforts to protect the world's cultural and natural heritage.
5. Disaster Resilience: Reduce the impact of economic losses and deaths from disasters, including through proper urban waste management.
Efforts to Accelerate Implementation in Indonesia. Until 2026, the acceleration of sustainable urban development in Indonesia will focus on:
1. Smart City Development: Implementation of the Movement Towards 100 Smart Cities, which integrates information technology to improve the efficiency of public services, waste management, and real-time air quality monitoring.
2. Integrated Mass Transportation Transformation: Accelerating intermodal integration (such as MRT, LRT, and BRT) in major cities to reduce dependence on private vehicles and reduce air pollution.
3. Slum-Free City Program (KOTAKU): Continuing the improvement of slum areas through improving drainage infrastructure, wastewater management, and providing fire protection.
4. Development of the New Capital City as a Model Forest City: Developing the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) as a prototype city of the future, emphasizing the sponge city principle for water management and 80% mobility through public transportation/walking.
5. Resilience to Climate Change: Strengthening sea wall infrastructure and early warning systems in coastal cities vulnerable to sea level rise and tidal flooding.
